Our History

Founders Bank was conceived and created by a group of Fort Bend business people who recognized the area's need for a locally owned and operated financial institution.

From those initial discussions—centered on the importance of local decision-making and the value of deep community roots—the bank's "founders group" grew to include a diverse cross-section of Fort Bend people, representing a wide range of businesses and backgrounds.

The end result is a new-generation hometown bank that provides the type of personal, knowledgeable service not found at large chain financial institutions.

Founders Bank is proud of its local ownership, with more than 80 percent of the bank's stock held by Fort Bend residents. The bank's staff, board of directors, and ownership group is directly involved in a number of local charities, with community service being one of Founders Bank's guiding principles.

Founders Bank opened its doors to new customers in November 2007. It moved to its permanent headquarters in December 2008 in Sugar Land's Founders Bank Plaza.
